Synthetic harmony is artificial music. It incorporates harmony written with the aid of a computer, harmony written with synthetic scales and synthetic chords and the use of artificial intelligence in music.
The guide has already covered many approaches to synthetic harmony. These approaches are listed in the table in the synthesis chapter.
This part of the guide concentrates on writing synthetic harmony at the microscopic level. Microtonality is the creation of music using a microinterval, an interval less than a semitone. Granular synthesis is the creation of music in microtime, sound that is less than one tenth of a second in duration.
